OUR REASON

  • • Today, some of the western scholars (the number of such people will possibly keep on increasing in the future) have proved via Life Regression Therapy and other similar practices that their religion of Catholic Christianity is incomplete because their religion does not believe in the existence of soul, reincarnation, karma, etc. whereas all these things have now become a scientifically proven fact. Now, they have started studying other religions of the world which believe in the existence of soul. In such a time, the eternal and true religion like Jainism is unable to identify itself in front of the world due to the lack of English literature. To give a permanent answer to this question this book is being created.

Following are some of the consequences of not providing such an Authentic Information Source till date:

A) A famous thinker and preacher says that :-

“During my early years, I had a lot of faith in Jainism but when I read that on one hand Jains do not believe in the liberation of women (this is the belief of the Digambaras) and on the other hand they believe a woman (Mallinath Bhagwan according to the Shwetambar belief) to be The Tirthankara. Such contradicting beliefs waned my faith in this religion.” This author combines the beliefs of both Shwetambars and Digambars which makes him believe that Jainism is strange. The religion says something and then itself opposes it. The author not only accepted such things himself but also spread it to many others through his books and speeches.

B) A scholar writes the following in his own book :-

“The founder of Jainism, Vardhamana Mahavira, was an older contemporary of Buddha. Both of them lived allegedly between 580 and 480 B.C. but there are also researchers who set that one hundred years later. More fable than fact has been related about their lives. Each of them founded an oral tradition whose later compilers obviously added many ideas of their own, intending to extend, deepen or just modify the original teachings in a way not always in complete agreement with the original.

The true founding scripture of Jainism that later split into two branches: the Digambaras and the Shwetambaras is called the Tattvarthasutra or Tattvarthadhigamasutra and was only compiled about 700 years after the death of its founder by a man named Umaswati. Thus, it is hard to say with certainty what Mahavira himself actually developed in the way of new karmic concepts.”

When this author went in search of the literature of all the religions of the world regarding Karma theory, he found only two books in English expressing the opinion of Jains which were also not specifically for Karma theory but were General Books and one of them was written by a householder (Shravaka) (without the knowledge acquired from the Guru tradition). Where else herein JPR we are going to publish the actual depth of Jainism regarding the karmic concept which is of 3000 pages itself.

Today, many foreigners write articles about the Jain religion in English, and their content is simply non-reliable that ends up with misrepresentation of Jain beliefs. To summarize, they are declaring at the International Level that our benevolent Tirthankaras are weird and their teachings are incomplete.

The only reason for all these problems can be concluded as, “Lack of Authentic Information Source.” Due to this problem, many inappropriate and unscriptural things have been propagated till date. Defamers have even condemned our religion for this.

No one can change the past but to prevent this from happening in future, publication of JPR Grantha as an Authentic Information Source for understanding Jainism is the only best solution we can possibly think of.

How will it be useful?
